A company of Costa Rica (small company I think) offer, directly to consumers homes can withstand tornadoes and other natural disasters and also providing security against theft and vandalism from its steel structure from, you have probably guessed, recycled container.

Jimmy Lee, the owner of this company, moved for Haiti shelter can accommodate 12 to 20 people in a standard 40x8x8 container (dimensions in feet). The cost of this shelter is $ 14,000.00 U.S.. The drawings are very pretty but the system of marketing is not entirely convincing.

Regarding container houses for the local market, the base price ranges from about U.S. $ 10,000.00 for a standard unit of 20x8x8 (160 square feet) to $ 20,000.00 for a unit or 20x16x8 40x8x8. This price does not include transportation, installation, license and foundations.

What particularly interested me about the site of this company is the abundance of first hand information on the construction of a container house. There is, in the section Learning ( learning center ) a manual, detailed instructions for all stages of carrying out such projects, photos and videos in large numbers. In contrast to the project rather Zen Sudan , here we seem to be able to put their hands in the dough at all times.
