Cheb Mami, was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted forced abortion

The prosecutor had demanded seven years, finally the rai singer Cheb Mami, was sentenced to five years in prison for attempted forced abortion on his ex-girlfriend.

The penalty is less severe than the required seven years before by the attorney and is also below the maximum sentence - ten years - incurred. Cheb Mami, Mohamed Khelifati civil status, will remain in prison. He had been detained since Monday when he returned to France after two years of flight in Algeria.

The singer's face remained closed after Statement of Judgement. "We're not going to appeal," said the lawyer for the star. According to her, Cheb Mami "allowed his imprisonment with relief because it's all over but also with anxiety" because he will have to remain in jail. However, with remission, the singer can regain his freedom in "a little over two years," said his lawyer. Still, all parties have ten days to appeal.

As for the ex-manager Michael Lecorre, described as "organizer and instigator" of the court, he was sentenced to four years in prison. Bitterness

Her lawyer was a comment loaded bitterness whereas Cheb Mami who "played freedom" had to pay a high price "to his manager for twenty years that has made him the artist he is not to run alone."

Finally and Abdelkader Hassan Lazaar Lallali, considered the "performers" of the case were sentenced in absentia to three years and six years in prison.

The day before, Cheb Mami, asked forgiveness from his ex-girlfriend who was drugged and kidnapped in a villa in Algiers in August 2005 by two men and a woman who tried to force her to abort a child whose the singer did not want.

Camille, a news photographer of 43 years, was finally able to give birth - by Caesarean section because of his injuries - a girl now aged three.
